J.B. Priestly’s An Inspector Calls has enjoyed renewed popularity recently, to the point where it has been included in the examinations for GCSE English Literature students for the summer 2019 series. Students are expected to have thoroughly studied the book with their teachers, and should be able to argue for the themes they identify throughout various passages and the book as a whole. Students should know the various terminology employed by analysts, and harness them for their own use as they construct arguments for and against the positions exam boards will hypothetically hold within their papers, and link them to other texts.
