Structured Home Schooling Courses
A levels are subject-based qualifications that can lead to university, further study, training, or work. You can normally study three or more A levels over two years.
They’re usually assessed by a series of examinations. Our A-Levels are awarded by AQA and Edexcel, two of the UK’s largest providers of academic qualifications. With our fully recognised A-Level courses you will sit the same exam as thousands of students across the country, and achieve the same qualification as everyone else.
Exams are available in June of each year.
We offer private tutoring, home-schooling, revision courses, retake courses and exam entries. Private tutoring can be invaluable at GCSE level as students are increasingly feeling the pressure to achieve top grades in order to be qualified to study their desired A-Level subjects. A number of universities now require Maths, English and Science GCSE as a pre-requisite for university admission; so, in many ways, success at GCSE is as important as it is at A-Level.
Ages: 5-7 years
During key stage 1, tuition focuses on numeracy, literacy, confidence and support. We have a number of teachers and tutors qualified to work with children at this level. Our KS1 teachers and tutors are equipped for supporting young children who are finding aspects of learning difficult in the early years. It is important to make learning enjoyable for children aged between five and seven. Rather than ever letting children feel pressured, our tutors provide caring support and patient tutoring.
Ages: 7-11 years
Their reading skills should be developing to a stage where they are ‘free readers’ and their writing should be starting to become more complex with added describing words and appropriate use of punctuation.
In Maths they should work with larger numbers and secure their knowledge of the four computations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division). They will develop a sound understanding of place value and will learn strategies to calculate things quickly in their head.
If you feel that your child would benefit from additional support, our home tuition programs can bolster their confidence and help them make great leaps in their understanding.
Ages: 11-14 years
English and Mathematics are most in demand in key stage 3 for one-to-one attention, as extra support for literacy or numeracy skills at this stage can make a tremendous difference. Entrance exams including the 13+ Common Entrance and scholarships can particularly cause extra anxiety for any child in this stage.
Our home tutors aim to provide pressure-free, patient tuition at a pace set by the pupil. Our KS3 programs will help your child develop the skills and understanding that will set them up for success in their GCSEs and beyond.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY
Our son achieved a SAT score of 142 points. The tutor definitely kept his end of the bargain.
My daughter got a B on her Calculus test, and we know it was in large part due to your tutor!
Thank you for helping my daughter in her transition to the grammar school. Your weekly report had been substantial to her success. I would recommend The Local Teachers to every student and parents who want to see real tangible progress in their education.
I have enjoyed your style of tutoring and made unimaginable progress math’s. What I have really appreciated more was the direction and the structure. I was given a personalized program extracted from my initial assessments. My tuition program taken in to account my weaknesses, the national curriculum and what I was meant to know in my year to achieve my desired grade. I was able to see the progress I was making every week as I hammer down one more topic that was instrumental to my final grade. I graduated with 2 As in and 1 B in my ALevels. Without you I wouldn’t have done it. Thank you.
We had a private tutor for a year and we never knew what what our son was learning. With your tuition we dont have to worry about that any more we get a weekly report and we are excatly aware of the progress our son is making. His english teacher has already noticed his progress. Thank you so much.
